Michiana's Menu: Zombie Walk and Taste of the Gardens both this Saturday

ZOMBIES WILL TAKE OVER SOUTH BEND FOR ANNUAL WALK 

No, it’s not a flash mob trying to create a scene from “Thriller.” 

The undead are taking over South Bend’s Howard Park on Saturday, Aug. 22, for South Bend Zombie Walk. 

Little monsters are asked to donate non-perishable food items at the event to benefit Food Bank of Northern Indiana, Flavor 574 reports, and can enjoy live music, food vendors, face painting and

The walk starts at 6 p.m. and the event will also have a brain eating contest.

SOUTH BEND WOMAN PLANS FAST, HEALTHY FOOD TRUCK 

Zipping around in a food truck making fast, fresh vegan fare has been a dream of Jessie Miles’ for a while. 

Miles, a vegan who works and lives in South Bend, has a vision for her food truck, The Grateful Green, and has plans to bring fresh food to people all around South Bend, according to 95.3 MNC’s partners at Flavor 574

The menu will start with fresh options like salad, soup, oatmeal and juice/smoothies. 

Miles has a truck lined up and will bring it home when the purchase is final. Once the truck is in South Bend she will purchase and install updated equipment. When she actually hits the road partially depends on when the city passes its proposed food truck ordinance

TASTE OF THE GARDENS IN ELKHART WILL FEATURE 17 LOCAL FOOD VENDORS 

Live music, fresh food and local artists will spend a day in the gardens Saturday, Aug. 22, for Wellfield Botanic Garden’s annual Taste of the Gardens 

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., guests can sample food from a selection of Michiana eateries, including: 

Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 12. Food ranges from $1 to $7.
