SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame has announced plans to add a video board as part of a $400 million construction project around its historic stadium.
Some alumni had been vocal in their opposition of adding video boards, saying it would take away from the stadium’s atmosphere. Coach Brian Kelly was a proponent. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick released a statement Tuesday saying the introduction of video will significantly improve the enjoyment of games at Notre Dame Stadium.
The university also said it will add vinyl-clad benches throughout the stadium, replacing wooden seats. It said it also will improve the sound system, renovate and increase the number of women’s restrooms and renovate the concession stands.
The plans announced Tuesday are part of a construction project announced last year.
