Women injured after tree falls on moving car

Two women are recovering from minor injuries after a tree fell on a car they were in on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. on County Road 1 south of Blaine Avenue, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

A tree fell across the roadway during high winds, landing on top of the vehicle as it was moving, according to the news release.

The 50-year-old Granger woman who was driving the car and her 22-year-old passenger from Elkhart were taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

The driver was treated for cuts to her face and an arm injury.

The passenger had facial bruising and complained of chest pain.
