INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush has ordered the Indiana Tax Court to begin implementing electronic filings starting next month.

The order signed Wednesday means that all appellate courts in Indiana will accept electronically filed documents starting in January. During her first State of the Judiciary speech to the General Assembly last January, Rush announced plans to modernize the courts with an electronic-filing system that she said would help save time and taxpayer dollars.

Supreme Court Justice Steven David and Court of Appeals Judge Paul Mathias lead the e-filing initiative. David says the Indiana Supreme Court is committed to the most effective use of technology to ensure that courts operate with efficiency and fairness. E-filing is a key component in the modernization plans.
