A 27-year-old Dowagiac, Mich., woman and a 2-year-old child were hospitalized after a crash near Dowagiac on Mondy morning, Dec. 21.

The woman was driving north on Brosnan Road at about 7:45 a.m. when a deer ran out in front of her vehicle, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. The woman swerved and began to panic and the vehicle crashed into a utility box and a tree.

She and her 2-year-old passenger were taken to Borgess Hospital in Dowagiac.

The crash remains under investigation.
