One dead after explosions, garage fire at Niles home

One person was found dead after a fire at a Niles, Mich., home on Tuesday evening in which neighbors also reported hearing explosions.

The fire was reported at about 6 p.m. in the 2400 block of Rebecca Lane, according to our news partners ABC 57. The garage was destroyed and flames charred part of the home.

The identity of the person killed in the fire hasn’t been released, by the Niles Daily Star reported that the victim lived in the home.

A vehicle, motorcycle and garden tractor were in the garage.

The Michigan state fire investigator and a Berrien County Sheriff’s Department detective are investigating the fire and the reported explosions.
