ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — An artist says he’s used lead-infused paint to create a portrait of Gov. Rick Snyder amid Flint’s crisis with lead-tainted water.

Michael Dykehouse of Ann Arbor tells The Detroit News the white paint that’s made with lead is “part of my vocabulary as an artist.” The 41-year-old used it in the painting this month as a permanent reminder of children affected in Flint.

If consumed, lead can cause developmental delays and learning disabilities.

Dykehouse unveiled the painting online this week and says he wants to sell it, with some of the proceeds going to a Flint nonprofit.

Snyder has apologized for his administration’s role in the lead contamination of Flint’s water supply. He’s faced criticism and protests, but has said he’s focusing on resolving Flint’s crisis.
