Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is visiting Goshen and Middlebury on Wednesday, April 6, to ceremonially sign two laws that have local impact.

Pence will sign HEA 1001, the bill that guaranteed $42 million in Regional Cities funding for the South Bend-Elkhart region, at 1:30 p.m. at Goshen Theater, 216 S. Main St., Goshen.

Pence will then move on to Middlebury to sign Kirk’s Law. Kirk’s Law mandates a statewide registry of anyone in Indiana who was convicted of child abuse or neglect. It’s named for a Middlebury toddler who prosecutors say died after he was injured by his babysitter, who previously had been convicted of child neglect.

The ceremony in Middlebury begins at 3 p.m. and will take place at Middlebury Town Hall, 418 N. Main St., Middlebury.
