Better Business Bureau warns of fake Blackhawks tickets

CHICAGO (AP) — The Better Business Bureau is warning hockey fans not to be fooled by fake tickets and merchandise as Chicago Blackhawks fever ramps up.

In a Friday news release, Better Business Bureau president and CEO Steve Bernas says explosive fan enthusiasm for a team’s performance ” is exactly what scammers are looking for.”

He offers some tips to avoid buying fake playoff tickets or illegal merchandise.

Buyers should look for the official NHL hologram and license and buy items from a reputable ticket broker or retailer. Many of those businesses are accredited with the Better Business Bureau and are listed on its website.

They also recommend using a credit card if possible, so you can dispute the charges if necessary.
