Drive-by shooting in South Bend results in 2 arrests

Two people face up to six years in prison each after they were arrested and charged in connection to a drive-by shooting in South Bend early Tuesday morning, June 7.

Alejandro Mendoza is charged with criminal recklessness, a level 5 felony, and carrying a handgun without a license, a misdemeanor, according to online court records. Melissa Hernandez is also charged with criminal recklessness, a level 5 felony.

Police say they shot several bullets at a home on Teri Street in South Bend on Tuesday, our news partners ABC 57 reported. Nobody was hurt.

A neighbor who witnessed the shooting helped police find the suspect vehicle nearby.
