Michiana is going to the dogs.

Plans are being finalized for a new dog park in Elkhart, according to our news partners The Elkhart Truth. A dog park recently opened in South Bend.

The park would be located at High Dive Park, Hayden Park, Willowdale Park, Ullery Park or Sterling Park. Tax dollars wouldn’t pay for the park; instead, annual memberships would be available for $10 for Elkhart residents and $35 for non-residents. Three-day passes for visitors would be available for $5.

Dog owners will need to prove that their dogs are licensed and vaccinated to join the park.
