Potawatomi Zoo attendance on track to break 2015 record

The Potawatomi Zoo is on pace to break the season attendance record it set in 2015.

The zoo welcomed 219,667 visitors in 2015 and is pacing about 23 percent higher than that so far in 2016, according to a news release from Potawatomi Zoo.

“Improved exhibits, new animals and experiences, new attractions and continued improvements in operations and facilities are all contributing factors,” Marcy Dean, the zoo’s executive director, said. “We’re grateful to our community for another fantastic year and we look forward to providing even more outstanding visitor experiences in 2016 and beyond.”

The zoo is in the first years of implementing a $37 million master plan announced in 2015. Changes since the plan was announced include allowing zoo patrons to interact closely with certain animals and the opening of an endangered species carousel and playground.

Potawatomi Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Find more information at the zoo’s website.
