A 20-year-old man from Lakeville was killed in a crash when the car he was driving collided with a box truck.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. on Friday, June 17, on Pierce Road at U.S. 31 near Lakeville.

The car was traveling westbound on Pierce Road and collided heard-on with the eastbound truck, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The victim died in the ambulance while en route to Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

Pierce Road was closed for more than three hours for the investigation.


A Michigan City man was killed in a crash on US-12 near Yunge Road in New Buffalo Township.

The collision happened around 3:40 p.m. on Friday, June 17.

Bernard Lootens, 89, of Michigan City, Indiana was in a passenger vehicle pulling onto US-12 from Yunge Rd and was struck by an eastbound semi tractor-trailer, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

Lootens was trapped in the vehicle and was removed with the jaws of life from the New Buffalo Township Fire Department.

He was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Michigan City where he later died.

The crash is still under investigation.


An Etna Green man died after the vehicle he was in was struck near Atwood.

The collision happened at the intersection of U.S. 30 and County Road 800 West just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 17.

When emergency responders arrived on scene, they found a Ford Mustang had been struck from behind by a Buick LeSabre, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the Ford Mustang had stopped near the edge of the westbound passing lane of U.S. 30 and got out of the vehicle to help in the first property damage crash, when his vehicle was then struck by the westbound Buick LeSabre, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The passenger of the Ford Mustang, identified as Donald T. Steward, 51, died at the scene by blunt force trauma, according to the Kosciusko County Coroner.

The woman driving the Buick was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in serious condition.


A Warsaw man was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Claypool.

The collision happened around 8:50 a.m. on Friday, June 17, at the intersection of County Farm Road and County Road 600 South.

Deputies say Reuben Jesse Delion, 22, had stopped at the intersection, then drove into the path of a northbound vehicle, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s investigators.

Dalton died at the scene due to blunt force trauma, according to the Kosciusko County Coronor.

Three of his passengers were extricated and taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in serious condition. The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized in fair condition with chest pain.
