Officials: 84 percent passed standardized reading tests

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — State education officials say preliminary results show nearly 84 percent of students in Indiana passed state standardized reading tests.

The Indiana Department of Education released results of the Indiana Reading Evaluation And Determination assessment, or IREAD-3, on Friday. State officials say it measures foundational reading standards through grade three.

The figures include public and private school students. Education officials say school and corporation level data will be will be released when the results are finalized after a summer retest period.

This year’s 83.8 percent passage rate was slightly below last year’s preliminary rate of 84.2 percent.
