A fire on Douglas Road east of Main Street in Mishawaka started when a bolt of lightning hit a transformer box Wednesday night, June 22.

The lightning strike happened just before 10:45 p.m. across the street from a Mishawaka Fire Department station. Firefighters there immediately responded to the blaze and closed Douglas Road while they put out the fire.
