A South Bend man in prison for the 2014 murder of a local high school student is now being charged in connection to a deadly 2013 shooting in South Bend.

Jermaine Munn, now 18, is charged with murder for the death of 20-year-old Jarina Bailey, who was shot and killed at a party in South Bend in July 2013.

Munn is currently serving a 65-year prison sentence at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility for the April 2014 murder of 18-year-old Nathan Hall.

According to court documents, Munn was affiliated with a local gang called the “Hotheads” and was armed with at least one gun when he went to a party at a car wash in the 1800 block of Lincolnway West on July 21, 2013.

Munn said he knew something was going to happen between the Hotheads and rival gang “B.O.D.”

Witnesses saw Munn and another man firing handguns at the party. Other witnesses told police that Munn said he was trying to shoot a member of B.O.D. but Bailey and two other women were shot instead, according to court documents. Bailey died, while the the other two women recovered.

Munn admitted he shot Bailey to at least two witnesses and told one he didn’t feel bad because he called her before the shooting and warned her to leave, court documents stated.

After the shooting, Munn and two other people went to Chicago for a few days, where Munn is believed to have traded the gun he used in the shooting for a different handgun.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office intends to transfer Munn from Wabash Valley to the St. Joseph County Jail to face the murder charge.
