Baby found asleep, alone in car at LaPorte Walmart, charges possible

A woman in LaPorte County may be charged after police say she left her baby in a locked car while shopping at Walmart.

Police were called to the Walmart in LaPorte around 10 p.m. on Monday, July 18 after a woman who parked next to the vehicle and saw the baby asleep, and alone, in the backseat, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The woman came out of the store a few minutes later and, when she was told her 1-year-old boy was in the backseat, the mother said she thought she left him at home, the South Bend Tribune reported.

The baby will be okay.
