An armed stand off at the Western Manor apartment complex ended peacefully.

South Bend Police and SWAT team members arrived at the complex at W. Western Ave. and Southview Lane in South Bend late Sunday morning, July 24, on the call of a man armed with knives threatening to stab neighbors and officers, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Negotiators talked to the suspect through a window of his apartment, ABC 57 reported.

After about two-and-a-half hours, police used tear gas to get the man out of the building without harming others, ABC 57 reporting.

He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
