BRISTOL, Ind. (AP) — Eastbound traffic on the Indiana Toll Road is moving again after a semitrailer carrying 23,000 pounds of paint flipped and spilled part of its load in north central Indiana.
The Indiana Toll Road posted on Twitter that one eastbound lane reopened about 3 p.m. EDT, or more than six hours after the crash had stopped all traffic in that direction about 20 miles east of South Bend. Online traffic sites showed traffic moving slowly through the area two hours later.
Police say the truck left the roadway and flipped when the driver attempted to steer back into his lane. Police say about 300 feet of the road was covered with paint.
The privately operated Toll Road carries traffic on Interstates 80 and 90 between Illinois and Ohio.
