The Elkhart Police Department is reminding drivers that school is back in session at all Elkhart Community Schools.

Police ask that motorists Please keep in mind kids driving to school, walking to school and boarding buses means longer travel times.

Police advise motorists to pay special attention when traveling in areas where schools are located.

Crossing guards, school speed zones and school bus stop arms are all utilized to protect our youth when they are traveling to and from school.

Officers with the Elkhart Police Department will be patrol in the area of all schools throughout Thursday, Aug. 4, with special attention being directed during the times when students arrive and depart from the schools.

Some of the most common violations police say they see are not coming to a complete stop at stop signs, all lanes of travel not stopping for the school bus stop arm and speeding.
