The Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership is one of more than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies in an effort to look for impaired drivers during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, which runs through Labor Day Weekend.

During the event, the partnership will conduct high-visibility enforcement zones throughout Elkhart County, as well as saturation patrols and other methods designed to detect and incarcerate impaired drivers.

In 2015, there were 172 alcohol-impaired collisions with 2 of the crashes resulting in fatalities and another 39 resulting in personal injuries in Elkhart County, according to the partnership. This is a 13% decrease in total alcohol-impaired collisions from 2014 and a 50% decrease in alcohol- impaired collision fatalities within Elkhart County.

The Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership includes the following agencies from Elkhart County: Elkhart City Police, Goshen City Police, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Nappanee Police Department, Bristol Police Department, Millersburg Police Department, and Wakarusa Police Department.
