An 18-year-old man from Ligonier was arrested after police say he robbed an Elkhart woman in her home.

Officers were sent to the 600 block of Sunset Avenue in Elkhart around 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26.

The victim reported returning home and pulling her vehicle into her garage, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.

While in the garage the suspect, Bradley Deskins, 18, Ligonier, appeared and was carrying a hammer, Snyder stated.

Deskins held the hammer above his head and demanded the victim’s money, Snyder stated.

The victim and Deskins entered her home where she gave him cash.

Deskins took off on foot. The victim called 911.

Officers were able to locate Deskins walking in the area. During the investigation officers discovered evidence linking him to the robbery, Snyder stated.
