The state of Indiana wants more truck drivers on Hoosier highways.

There are enough openings throughout the state for new or experienced drivers, and that makes it third on the “Hoosier Hot 50” list from Indiana Skills 2 Compete.

The average trucker salary is over $38,000 and requires only a CDL as well as basic orientation.

There were 45,000 drivers in 2012, and projections for 2022 put the need at nearly 50,000 thanks to an annual growth of more than 10 percent in the industry.
