South Bend International Airport is welcoming a second daily flight to a major destination with style Wednesday afternoon.
The first flight of the second daily United Airlines flight from New York/Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) will be welcomed with a water cannon salute. The flight is scheduled to arrive at 4:52 p.m, according to a press release from the airport.
“Additional air service is always worth celebrating,” said SBN Executive Director, Mike Daigle. “Being a passenger on a flight with a water cannon salute is a special and memorable experience. We thank everyone who chooses to fly South Bend.”
The twice daily flights are planned through Dec. 15, 2016. The second daily United flight will leave Newark at 2:45 p.m. and arrive in South Bend at around 4:52 p.m. Then, it will depart South Bend at 5:25 p.m. and will arrive in Newark at about 7:20 p.m.
That schedule shifts after Dec. 15, when flights will start leaving South Bend at 6:35 a.m. and returning nightly at about 10:15 p.m.
