Metro Homicide is investigating a fatal shooting in the southwest side of South Bend.

Shots rang out around 3:50 a.m. Thursday on the 4400 block of Meadow Lane, which is near the Belleville Softball Complex on the west side.

Police discovered the victim, Tyler Hurtle, 20, down on the ground when they arrived. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died, according to the South Bend Police Department.

A witness said she heard 10 gunshots and a scream, according to WSBT.
