Authorities believe that a 22-year-old Elkhart woman wasn’t being honest when she called in late for work at the Bashor Children’s Home.

Instead, court documents allege that Ashley Monday spent part of July 20 and that night at an Elkhart motel. She was there with 17 and 18-year-old runaway boys who bolted from the Bashor Children’s Home that day, according to the Elkhart Truth.

Monday is accused of giving the boys alcohol and having sex with the 17-year-old twice over the course of that day and night.

The boys, whose names were not released, were from St. Joseph and Marion Counties. It’s believed Monday, who works as a child care worker at the home, had contact with the teens before July 20, according to court documents.

Monday allegedly bought a bottle of whiskey from an Elkhart Wal-Mart. One of the teens told detectives he got drunk and had sex twice with Monday. The other teen had receipts from the hotel and alcohol purchase, according to the Elkhart Truth.

The boys were picked up in South Bend after Monday dropped them off the day after.

Monday was arrested last Wednesday and posted bail on Tuesday. She’s charged with a felony count of child seduction, along with a misdemeanor.
