A robbery in Benton Township Wednesday night has now become a deadly shooting.

43 year-old Kenneth Martin Jr. was walking with a woman in the 1900 block of Empire Avenue when a man approached, tried to rob them, and shot Martin, according to police.

The woman was not injured in the incident but Martin has since died of his injuries.

The suspect is still being sought and Benton Township Police encourage anyone with information to contact them, or Crimestoppers.
