Boy, 13, killed in apparent accidental shooting in Elkhart County

A 13-year-old boy has died as the result of an apparent accidental shooting.

Deputies with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department were called around 11:50 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23,  to a home in the 29000 block of San Lu Rae Drive on the report of a shooting.

On arrival, deputies found the victim, Devon Sullivan of Elkhart, who was wounded from an apparent accidental discharge from a firearm.

Medics were called and Sullivan was taken to Elkhart General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Detectives with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department are continuing an investigation into the incident.
