He was a good boy, and now he’s gone.

The St. Joseph County Police Department announced on Facebook late Thursday that K9 officer Oz passed away.

Oz was set to retire this month and spend the rest of his life with his handler, Cpl. Neil Hoover, and his family. However, Oz had an inoperable tumor and had to be euthanized.

Oz and Handler were partners since 2009.
