Man struck by vehicle near Michigan and Sample Streets in downtown South Bend

A man was taken to the hospital with a serious head injury after being struck by a vehicle in downtown South Bend.

It happened around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, in the area of Michigan Street and Dean Johnson Blvd, which is just south of Sample Street.

The victim was struck when was attempting to cross the street, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

He was unconscious when emergency crews arrived, ABC 57 reported.

The driver of the vehicle has been cooperating with police.

The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is investigating the circumstances that led to the man being struck.
