Five people, including a former sheriff, have been granted immunity in the upcoming trial of Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine.
Special Prosecutor Nelson Chipman sought the immunity ruling, which was granted by Special Judge Evan Roberts. Immunity was granted to three law enforcement officials: former Sheriff William “Rocky” Goshert, Det. Sgt. Joe Mooney and jailer Joseph Courtois.
Also getting immunity is former Grace College professor Mark Soto and mixed martial arts fighter Kevin Bronson. Soto and Bronson were originally indicted along with Rovenstine.
Immunity means testimony by any of the five state witness can not be used against them in future court proceedings.
Rovenstine faces a jury trial in February on ten felony counts, including bribery and intimidation.
