A vigil has been planned for the New Prairie High School student who died Monday night in a school hallway after participating in a basketball game.

The students at New Prairie have planned a gathering to remember their classmate at 6 p.m. CST Thursday, to be held at the school’s baseball field, according to a press release.

New Prairie Schools Superintendent Dr. Paul White extends his deep appreciation to the members of the community that have expressed their sorrow and provided a tremendous amount of support during this difficult time.

After an inconclusive autopsy, it could take as much as week for toxicology reports to possibly determine the cause of death of 17 year-old Mark Mayfield.
