Criminal charges have been filed against a Kingsford Heights man who evaded LaPorte County deputies for two days.

46-year-old David Lane is charged with attempted murder, burglary, robbery, and domestic battery. A habitual offender charge could be added later, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

If convicted on all counts, he faces up to 92 years in prison.

Lane is accused of forcing his way into his estranged wife’s home and beating her. The victim also told deputies Lane threated her with a gun and threated to harm himself by committing “suicide by cop.” She was treated for her injuries at LaPorte Hospital.

Lane’s vehicle was found along Scholl Road. Lane was found a day later hiding in the woods near the vehicle.

Lane is currently being held in LaPorte County Jail on $100,000 bond.
