Three people, including a 5 year-old girl, were rescued from an apartment fire late Thursday night in Mishawaka.

The call came in around midnight to the Mishawaka Fire Department.

The fire had broken out in the basement of a 12-apartment complex in the 300 block of West 4th Street. Three people who had been trapped by the flames on the second floor were evacuated by firefighters using a ladder, and no injuries were reported.

The basement apartment was said to be a total loss and the American Red Cross was assisting the families put out by the damage. The fire marshal is helping with the investigation.
