Our earlier story…
13 people had to be taken to the hospital after being found unconscious at a hotel.
An employee at the Quality Inn and Suites called the hotel after finding six children between the ages of 10 and 14 unconscious in the pool area. Hotel staff, two Berrien County deputies and a Niles city police officer eventually had to be treated at a hospital, according to ABC 57.
Niles firefighters reported carbon monoxide levels at 800 parts per million, 16 times higher than the acceptable level of 50 parts per million.
The hotel has been evacuated. Some other areas of the hotel showed elevated carbon monoxide levels, but not as high as the pool area. A mechanical engineer will investigate the source.
