South Bend man killed in motorcycle crash on bypass

A 53-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash in South Bend.

The collision happened on Saturday afternoon, April 15, near Nimtz Parkway and the U.S. 20/31 bypass.

Daniel Stenberg of South Bend was heading north on the bypass when witnesses say he made a fast lane change toward Nimtz Parkway and lost control of the motorcycle, according to a report from WNDU.

Stenberg was ejected from the motorcycle, WNDU reported.

He was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

In a separate crash, a man had to be extricated from a car after a crash on U.S. 12 near Dayton Road.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, April 16, when the vehicle and a pick-up truck collided.

The driver of the truck was treated and released from the scene, according to ABC 57.

Police in South Bend were also called to the scene of a crash, late Saturday night, at the Douglas Road-Juniper Road roundabout north of the Notre Dame campus.
