Officers with The St. Joseph County Traffic Safety Partnership wrote more than 1700 tickets during the March 2017 dangerous and impaired driving enforcement campaign. Of those tickets, 206 traffic arrests and 55 criminal arrests were made within St. Joseph County.

“Dangerous and impaired driving kills,” said Police Lt. Tim Williams. “We all play a part in keeping Indiana’s roadways safe, and campaigns such as this ensure each and every driver and passenger understand their role and the importance of staying vigilant behind the wheel. Even one less dangerous or impaired driver off the road is a success in which we all can share.”

The criminal arrests consisted of burglary incidents, as well as cases of possession of hand gun without a license and driving a stolen vehicle. The officers also had several traffic arrests, including 3 Habitual Traffic Violators, 26 D.U.I.s and 177 Driving While Suspended incidents.
