Tea Party Patriots to rally in South Bend near local IRS office

Members of the St. Joe County Tea Party Patriots plan to gather for a “Tax Day Tea Party” sign waving rally on Tuesday, April 18, as the tax filing deadline draws near.

The rally will take place from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. near the IRS office at the intersection of East Wayne and Michigan Street in South Bend.

The rally will focus on tax reform and support for the President’s tax reform agenda, according to the organization.

“We can fund our government without the graft and corruption that is pervasive in a complicated tax system. The IRS has demonstrated blatant and illegal abuse of government power,” said Kathy Maloney of St. Joe County Tea Party Patriots. “A government agency that uses a 73,000 page tax code and 100,000 employees to intimidate and suppress the 1st amendment rights of its citizens needs to be reformed.”

The group is inviting all concerned voters in St. Joe County to take part in the rally.
