A former Michigan City Police Officer is accused of raping a woman last month.

51-year-old Thomas Jackson of Trail Creek has been charged with four counts of rape. He was arrested without incident shortly after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at a convenience store, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

Jackson is accused of having inappropriate contact with a LaPorte County woman’s daughter who had such diminished mental capabilities, she could not consent to the sexual acts. The acts allegedly happened in March.

On March 14th, Jackson resigned from the police department.

He’s being held at LaPorte County Jail on $25,000 bond. He faces up to 64 years in prison if convicted on all four counts.
