Work begins on “state-of-the-art” Elkhart gas station

It’s going to be unlike any other gas station in our area.

Construction on the Pulse gas station in the southeast corner of C.R. 6 and Cassopolis St. has begun, according to the Elkhart Truth.

The new 6,000 square foot gas station will have a lot of unique features, project developer Jay Parekh told the Elkhart Truth.

“This is going to be a new concept for Indiana,” he said. “The station will have a brick-oven pizzeria, a large candy wall and 15 different flavors of frozen yogurt available. This will be a completely different style of gas station/convenience store.”

The station will be modeled similar to national chain Quik Trip, which are typically based in states south of Indiana. The developer has plans on building up to four other stations like it in the area in the coming years.

One thing it won’t be: a truck stop. Parekh says there won’t be any semi-truck facilities and will instead offer a casual, family-friendly atmosphere.

Construction is expected to take six-to-eight months. A liquor store is tentatively slated to go next to the gas station.
