LaPorte County man dies after single-vehicle crash north of LaPorte

A LaPorte County man is dead after his SUV ran into a tree early Monday morning.

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash on Fail Road about a mile north of the city of LaPorte at about 3 a.m. Monday.

When officers arrived, they found a Ford Explorer hat hit a tree on the east side of the road.

The driver, 34-year-old Bryan Meyer of rural LaPorte County, was found unresponsive and in critical condition. He was taken to LaPorte Hospital where he died about four hours later. The cause of his death was blunt force trauma.

Officers say drugs and alcohol were not factors, but the investigating officer did note that it was raining and the road was wet at the time of the crash.
