A Michigan City man will be going to federal prison for over four years for having something he shouldn’t have had.

25-year-old Booker T. Sanders Jr. was sentenced this week to 51 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He also must serve a one year on supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Sanders was found with a handgun on July 11, 2016 when Michigan City officers responded to a domestic disturbance.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Michigan City Police.
