“Grey Death” drug makes its way to Michiana

A potent new opioid has made its way into Michiana.

Police say it’s commonly called “Gray Death.” According to the CDC, a record number of overdose deaths in several states have already been attributed to it.

The South Bend Tribune reports that the drug is a cocktail of synthetic or prescription opiates combined with heroin, fentanyl, and carfentinal…which is a tranquilizer used on tigers or elephants.

The drug resembles cement and is even dangerous to first responders who come into contact with it.
