Wakarusa woman dies after Nappanee head-on crash

A Wakarusa woman is dead and three others continue to recover after a head-on crash in Nappanee Wednesday.

53-year-old Jean Mast was a passenger in a car that crossed the center line on S.R. 19 near Heritage Parkway and plowed into a BMW. Jean Mast was pronounced dead at Elkhart General Hospital. The driver of her car, a 54-year-old Wakarusa man, is in stable condition, according to the Nappanee Police Department.

Jean Mast and her driver had to be extricated from their vehicle, while a 30-year-old Elkhart man was pinned in his BMW. Both he and his passenger are listed in serious condition at Elkhart General Hospital.
