A vacant house in Osceola was damaged in what firefighters believe was an explosion caused by a heavy gas leak.

The Penn Township Fire Department was called to a home in the 800 block of West Superior St. a little before 10 a.m. Friday. West Superior and Beech Road were closed off for about an hour due to concerns about the quantity of gas in the home, according to ABC 57.

Firefighters couldn’t even get inside the home for a while because of the unsafe air quality. The house was aired out, then firefighters put out a fire in the basement of the home, where the explosion took place and blew out all of the insulation. The explosion also damaged the garage.

The house was vacant and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters told ABC 57 that the fire could be suspicious. The cause of the leak is being investigated.
