South Bend children found with elevated lead levels

The St. Joseph County Health Department says elevated lead levels have been found in children in South Bend, and urge parents in the city to consider testing for their kids.

The stories of children coping with the effects of lead poisoning have come from across the nation, and high levels were found in children on the northwest side of the city earlier this year.

The county Health Department has made an effort to educate parents about testing, and as a result lead testing has doubled.

The Women, Infant, and Children’s Center in South Bend tells the South Bend Tribune that they have started testing again but urge new mothers not to wait. The center had to cease testing previously due to the costs involved.

Pay attention to your kids and don’t let them eat the paint! IKR, it’s sooooo hard because you have to pull your face away from the black mirror and what’s happening in your make believe world in faceplant and bird noise.
