A man has been arrested after authorities say he vandalized and robbed at least five different laundromat and car wash coin machines in the last month.

27-year-old Mychal David Loper of Warsaw is facing preliminary charges of felony theft and criminal mischief.

The first report was of damage and theft from a coin machine at Hometown Laundry in Milford, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

When Loper was interviewed, he admitted to his involvement with that theft, along with four more thefts in the Warsaw area from coin operated machines at laundromats and car washes, the sheriff’s department reported.

Loper also said that he had allegedly stolen a pair of bolt cutters from the Nappanee Ace Hardware with the intent to vandalize and steal money from the coin machines at a laundry mat in Nappanee, the sheriff’s department stated.

Loper was already in Kosciusko County Jail on an unrelated failure to appear misdemeanor warrant when they determined his involvement.

Detectives are still investigating Loper’s possible involvement in other similar crimes prior to his arrest.
