Elkhart is welcoming their counterparts in China this week.

As part of their newest Sister Cities International relationship, Elkhart officials will welcome a delegation from Tongxiang City, China on Wednesday.

The partnership is no accident: Tongxiang City is also a thriving recreational vehicle hub in China and, as the Elkhart Truth reports, already receives a significant amount of trade from Elkhart County companies.

Wednesday’s events include a tour of Notre Dame, along with:

• 3 p.m. – a welcome ceremony will take place at INOVA Federal Credit Union’s headquarters at 358 S. Elkhart Ave., hosted by CEO Dallas Bergl.

• 4 p.m. – the group will move to the northwest corner of Lundquist-Bicentennial Park at 100 S. Elkhart Ave. Elkhart will dedicate the park as Tongxiang Park in honor of the cities’ cooperation.

• 6:30 p.m. – the group will get a tour of the Lerner Theatre led by Neese.
• 7 p.m. – the group will gather for dinner in the theatre.
