A single vehicle crash Wednesday night killed a semi truck driver in Elkhart County.

Indiana State Police responded to the crash at about 8 p.m. Wednesday on the westbound Indiana Toll Road between Mishawaka and Elkhart at mile marker 87.

The 2015 Freightliner went off the right side of the road for unknown reasons and ended up in a ditch. The truck rolled onto its top and lost its load of steel sheets.

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic was not impacted as the crash happened well off the road.
