“Terriorism” war memorial bench replaced with corrected version in Columbia City

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (AP) — A misspelling on a bench at a Vietnam War memorial in northern Indiana has been corrected.

WANE-TV reports the stone bench with the misspelled word “terrorism” at the memorial in Columbia City had been replaced by Wednesday.

The memorial had been put in place last week outside the Whitley County courthouse in the city about 20 miles west of Fort Wayne. Engravers accidentally inserted an extra “i” in the word. Memorial designer Ty Murphy put tape over the errant “i” until the bench was replaced.

Murphy says many people had overlooked the mistake, including the Muncie company that made the stone bench.
